Would a liberal arts education be better if professors focused more on research and less on teaching? Read this article by Paula Krebs in the Chronicle of Higher Education.
I think a liberal arts education - at Northwestern at least - would be a lot better if admissions made it a point to start getting kids that aren't from the EV Free or Reformed traditions and have a pretty rigorous, open-ended essay requirement included with the application. ACT/SAT scores simply dont mean as much these days...
